The Mysteries of Lake Annecy

Lake Annecy, celebrated for its picturesque beauty, conceals dark secrets beneath its serene surface. Local legend speaks of Bernoline's ghost, a spectral figure who roams the lake’s shores when the mist rises. Some walkers swear they've seen a white silhouette glide across the water's surface before vanishing into the depths—a haunting reminder of the tragedy that lingers here. According to Le Dauphiné Libéré, these tales continue to captivate the imagination of both residents and visitors alike.

The Haunted House of Teresa

In Savoie, the story of Teresa's house is among the most spine-chilling. This isolated dwelling, marred by a forgotten tragedy, is reputed to be one of the most haunted places in the region. Visitors report shutters banging without wind, footsteps echoing upstairs, and an oppressive sense of presence. Even the bravest souls hesitate to linger around this house after dark, fearing an encounter with Teresa's spirit.

Préfantasti: The Alchemists' Legacy

On the road between Carpentras and Le Barroux, the ruins of Préfantasti tell the intriguing story of two alchemist brothers. Imprisoned for their arcane practices, they continued their experiments until their tragic deaths. Today, on moonless nights, strange lights and ghostly apparitions are often reported by those daring enough to wander among the ancient stones. This story illustrates how the relentless pursuit of knowledge can sometimes lead to dire consequences.

The Monster of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse

The valley of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is famous for harboring the Coulobre, a terrifying creature described as half-snake, half-dragon. Although vanquished by Saint Véran, whispers of its reappearance persist. Locals speak of mysterious disappearances attributed to this beast, suggesting that while the monster may slumber, it is never truly dead. These tales continue to fuel fear and mystery surrounding the region.
